Let me start by asking you a question, "How do you choose the best soap?". Normally, we buy seeing the cover of the soap, advertisements or which our neighbour recommends. Yes, even I did the same. Now let us change our habit and choose the best soap by checking the ingredients.

Do you think that soaps are 100% chemical free? Is it so? No, not at all.  The soap cannot be prepared without a chemical called sodium hydroxide. So don’t blindly believe what advertisers say.

THE CHEMICALS THAT ARE USED IN SOAPS:

The chemicals like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Lauerth Sulfate, Cocamidi Propyl Betain, Perfume, Paraffin, Colours, Titanium Dioxide, Benzyl Alcohol, Methyl paraben, Propyl paraben, Coumarin, Citronellol, Alpha Isomethyl Ionone, Tetra Sodium EDTA, Butylphenyl Methylpropinol, Butylphenyl Hydroxytoluene, Alumina, Propylene Glycol, Triclocaraban and Di Sodium EDTA.

I personally went to the shop and checked the ingredients of all available soaps. Every soap has more than three chemicals in it. I have shown the ingredients of certain soaps in the video which is given below. WATCH OUT!!!

So next time when you buy a bar of soap, please remember these ingredients and ensure that they are not present. I know it's hard to remember. But you can just take a photo of it, check the ingredients of the soap and buy the best one.

THE SIDE EFFECTS OF USING THESE CHEMICAL SOAPS ON A DAILY BASIS:

  • If you use these chemicals on a daily basis, they may penetrate the skin and blood stream. This causes skin cancer, blood cancer, skin irritation, rashes, and many other diseases.

  • Chemicals like triclosan, lye, and certain dyes can dry out the skin and damage it. If you frequently use soap, it can speed up the skin's degradation.
  • The PH level of the skin should be 4 to 6.5. The abrasive properties of soap increase the PH level to 7 (alkaline). So it irritates the protective mantle and causes breaches in it. This leads to skin problems like acne flaring up.
  • Regular use of soap can change the structure of the skin and affect the skin. Using soap for just one week can damage the protective barrier (outer layer).
  • The skin contains some good bacteria. These bacteria fight against external microbes and save the skin from infections. The soap harms helpful microorganisms, and we get affected by infections.
  • Antibacterial soaps that contain harsh chemicals, fragrances and colors cause inflammation, irritation, red patches and swelling of the skin.
