HOW TO OVERCOME DRY SKIN

 HOW TO OVERCOME DRY SKIN:

Do you have rough skin? Strechy? Redness? Iching? White patches? If "YES" then you have dry skin.

If you don't know your skin type, Read this article.

The outermost layer of the skin (epidermis) contains 30% water, which if it becomes less than 10%, then your skin turns dry. Our skin naturally produces oil called sebum and a natural moisturising factor. When these are produced for little to nothing, it causes dry skin. In short, dry skin is nothing but having decreased water or moisture content in the skin.

Dry skin is common, but when it is severe, like bleeding, rashes, etc., you need to consult with the dermatologist.

CAUSES FOR DRY SKIN:

 GENETIC:

When your parents or someone in your family had dry skin, Then you may also have dry skin, or you may also be the first person.

AGEING:

When you get older, the cell production rate will gradually decrease and the protective lipid matrix will also get weaker. The process of the skin slows down. So you automatically get dry skin.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

There are many environmental factors like

  • Decrease in humidity
  • Increase in temperature
  • Exposure to sun for long hours
  • Drinking lot of caffeine
  • Smoking
  • Cold weather
  • Pollution
  • Swimming often in chlorinated water
  • Decrease in intake of water.
  • Being in air conditioners for long hours.

UNDERLYING DISEASES:

Underlying diseases like atopic dermatitis, ichthyosis, and psoriasis can also cause dryness. People suffering from these diseases should not try any home remedies on their own. You must consult a dermatologist.

DAILY ROUTINE FOR DRY SKIN:

As you all know, people with dry skin will have very little water or moisture content in their skin. So, to prevent causing dryness, you should retain the lagging substance in your skin. By retaining the lacking substance, the skin will be balanced.

  1. People with dry skin should not shower for more than 5-7 min.
  2. Do not ever shower with hot water.
  3. Must apply cream-based moisturiser immediately after bathing. Do not completely dry out your skin and apply it. Apply moisturiser when the skin is a little wet.
  4. Pat dry your skin with a soft towel. (Avoid rubbing your skin.)
  5. It is better to use different moisturisers for the face and body. Because your face is much softer than your body. So body moisturiser may be harsh on your face.
  6. Reapply moisturiser when your skin is dry.
  7. Always use cream-based sunscreen.
  8. Drink 6-8 glasses of water.
  9. Avoid smoking and limit caffeine.
  10. Use lip balm

NOTEThe most important thing to remember is that when you follow any

skin care routine, it will take time to get the desired result. So, do not expect

the best result in a short period of time.
